The word ‘Tea House’, originated from the traditional small tea shops locally known as ‘bhattis ‘, these shops with the flow of tourism over a period of time gradually grew and turned into what we now call Tea House Lodges/ Hotel. The overwhelming majority of trekkers in Nepal opt for a tea house trek, which essentially means the Everest, Annapurna and Langtang regions. Over 90% of the trekkers visit these areas and it is easy to say why. Treks her are cheap, easy to arrange and scenically spectacular, offering all the views you’d hope for without any of the logistical hassles of a camping trek. The trails are easy to follow and at the end of the day you are guaranteed a reviving cup of tea, slice of apple pie and a soft bed for the night, what better than your own small room with a bed. Wow! The standard teahouse treks are well within the capabilities of most people.

Teahouse treks are social events. You’ll bump into the same people again and again on the trail and then at lunch and overnight spots. The hill lodges are a melting pot for trekkers from around the world and a great place to share the camaraderie of the trail, sitting by the warmth of the fire place in the dining hall.
