The Unique Features of the Lower Mustang Trek

The Lower Mustang Trek is one of Nepal’s most exceptional trekking destinations. The trek takes you through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, considered the deepest gorge in the world. This gorge, older than the surrounding mountains, was formed approximately 80 million years ago and separates the towering peaks of Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters) to the west and Annapurna (8,091 meters) to the east.

The Kali Gandaki River, which flows through the gorge, has shaped the region's landscape and connects the ancient trade route between Tibet, Nepal, and India. The natural beauty of the gorge is complemented by the rich cultural and religious history of the area, where Tibetan Buddhism has deep roots, and the ancient traditions of the local people still thrive.

The Lower Mustang region is a section of the famed Annapurna Circuit, one of the most popular trekking routes in Nepal. The trek offers an ideal blend of natural beauty, cultural exploration, and spiritual immersion.
